KOHAT UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, KOHAT

Kohat the southern city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is only an hour's drive from Peshawar and couple of hours drive from country's capital Islamabad. It is at an altitude of 1607 feet. Cradled in the lap of mountains and famous as 'City of Streams', it has many places that are flocked by people. Among these, is the well-known University of Kohat, a place, where imparting education is not considered just a duty, but as a commitment towards the advancement of the society. the vision and a single minded mission of the University make it a name to reckon with.



Kohat University of Science & Technology holds examinations, grants degrees, imparts knowledge and confers diverse academic distinctions on persons who pursue approved courses of study at the University or the constituent colleges/institutions approved for the purpose and also for those who appear as external/private candidates. The University also admits, maintains, recognizes, and affiliates colleges and other sister institutions. It is primarily a research, teaching, affiliating, and examining body involved in promotion of not only science and technology but other branches of learning as well. The University is open to all classes and creeds with the sole objective to carry people from darkness to light.

Kohat

Kohat (Pashto: کوهاټ) is a medium sized town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located at 33°35'13N 71°26'29E with an altitude of 489 metres (1607 feet)[1] and is the capital of Kohat District. The town centres around a British-era fort, various bazaars, and a military cantonment. There are a number of tombs of famous personalities in the area, like the Sufi saint and teacher Haji Bahadar Ali Abdullah Shah alias Haji Bahadar Sahib and Mian Fateh Shah (Sherkot, Kohat). The town has many mosques and schools. A British-built narrow gauge railway runs through the town. Kohat Pass is to the north.
Due to demand from the people for a tunnel at the Kotal hills, the Government has recently sanctioned a huge amount for this project, benefiting all the southern districts. Tunnel was completed in 2004. The following are some salient features of the project.

Length of north section: 7.7 kilometres
Length of south section: 22.20 kilometres
Length of tunnel: 1.89 kilometres
Width of tunnel: 10.3 meters
Black topped: 7.3 meters

Time of completion: 48 months

Tanda Dam kohat

Tanda Dam is located in Kohat District, Khyber PUKHTON KHWA Province, Pakistan.

The dam is used for irrigation, fishries and picnic which is constructed on the water of Kohat Toi River. At Kagazi village, river water is diverted towards Tanada dam.Although most of the shoreline is steep, stony and devoid of aquatic vegetation, at the west end there are some areas of gently shelving muddy shores with a small amount of emergent vegetation.

Tanda Dam construction was supported by President Ayub Khan. Agricultural lands from Tanada dam up to Jarma and Dohda Sharif are irrigated where vegitables, weat and sugar cane are cultivated.
